Environmentally Conscious Products and Systems
Working towards sustainable development, applying green procurement practices, creating eco-factories and recycling centers, manufacturing eco-products... |
| Our air conditioner design, product procurement, manufacturing, shipping and recycling processes demonstrate Mitsubishi Electric's commitment to environmental responsibilities. We're continually reducing the use of hazardous materials and as well as energy requirements in manufacturing processes. We also implement our own waste liquid and gas recover technologies, and practice environmentally conscious packaging, distribution and recycling. |

| Cleaning-free, Pipe-reuse Technology |
This industry-first technology comprises a number of developments that make it possible to use existing piping when installing a new air conditioner, thus reducing bulky and contaminated wastes. We also use hard alkyl benzene (HAB) refrigerant oil that degrades very slowly, a specially developed high-efficiency oil filter, and heat exchangers designed to prevent oil stagnation. In addition to saving on waste materials, pipe cleaning and replacement are no longer required, reducing both installation time and cost.

| Lead-free Soldering in Air Conditioner Production |
A lead-free soldering technique was developed for semiconductors installed in our products, considerably reducing the use of lead in manufacturing processes.

 |

Our air conditioners are specially designed to allow for easy cleaning, efficient disassembly and more practical recycling. The number of parts used in indoor units has been reduced by adopting modular components, which also simplifies materials separation for recycling. To date, as much as 84% of the materials used to build an air conditioner is recyclable.

 |

Advancements in control and inverter technologies have enabled us to considerably reduce the amount of energy required to operate air conditioners. For example, the "Double Floor Temperature Sensor" has allowed approximately 20% in energy savings to be achieved.

| Design for Environment (DFE) |
Our goal in the designing of air conditioners is to develop products that are 100% recyclable and cause minimal waste creation during production and use.

| Green Procurement/Green Factory |
Our procurement and green factory policies are making a clear difference on earth. We're eliminating the use of hazardous substances through the product lifecycle, from design to disposal and recycling. That reduces the negative impact to humans, and all life around us. In every phase of air conditioner production, we have the earth in mind.
|
 |
 |

Our Design for the Environment (DFE) policy leads to easier recycling and ensures that an absolute minimum waste from our products ends up in the world's landfills. Technicians at our HyperCycle Systems recycling center in Japan provide positive feedback to our designers and engineers in order to continually improve the process.
