TAKASHI OKAMOTOOne such way the live sensation may advance in the future is by display screens becoming yet larger still, according to Large Display Engineering Section manager, Takashi Okamoto, who also asserts that picture quality is also set to improve.
"Visual displays will continue to grow in size but as sizes increase so must the image resolution improve. In the not too distant future, audiences will be able to experience a new and sensational virtual world."he asserts.
Okamoto's dreams for the future are not without their roots in reality, for Okamoto understands personally that devotion, passion and a positive outlook can lead to even the most seemingly unattainable dreams coming true. From the time the Hong Kong Jockey Club announced its mega-screen requirements, Okamoto would have to triumph over adversity, to keep the dream alive.
"When the client decided to go with the 70 meter screen, my honest impression was that it would be problematic due to the controller specs that we had just developed at the time, not being sufficient. As the massive screen needs to use several controllers, the most difficult part of this project was trying to improve the overall control," Okamoto says.
Interface adjustments also posed problems as the control methods differed, however through a collaborative effort, involving information research and software companies, problems were addressed, solutions were found and the project continued to move forward towards completion.
It was through this project that Okamoto rediscovered the importance of unity-people coming together from different fields to contribute their skills and knowledge to the new generation of super-screens.
"Diamond Vision at first glance appears to be only a TV, but in fact it is a high level system with many people from diverse areas such as architecture, SE, hardware and software design participating in an intricate process, and all involved are very much indispensable," he says.
