Facilities Return

Backing the performance and reliability of the DS2000 are Japan’s largest satellite manufacturing/testing facilities. A basement level and five stories above ground provide 4,554 square meters of usable floor space area in a building 23.8 m in height (eaves height 22.9 m) with a 2,483 square-meter footprint. Structural rigidity is sufficient to withstand an earthquake intensity of 6-7 based on the Japanese scale.

Full satellite production cycle, from design to assembly and testing. Production time and cost reductions are achieved by integrating manufacturing and testing into the same plant. Product quality and work efficiency enhancements are achieved through the utilization of a high-speed LAN, which enables the construction of an advanced computer and information network.

Space Chamber
Space Chamber
The space chamber enables a low-temperature, high-vacuum environment to be simulated inside a large vacuum vessel. It is utilized for pre-launch performance testing of satellites.
  • Its 11.5 m diameter and 11 m length qualify it as Japan’s largest space chamber (excluding the JAXA chamber).

  • Independent temperature control of six zones enables the simulation of a variety of space temperature conditions without needing to utilize special equipment.

  • The chamber design is a horizontally oriented cylinder with a sliding main door. A flat floor greatly simplifies satellite handling and test setup.
Compact Antenna Test Range
Compact Antenna Test Range
A compact antenna test range is used to test satellite systems and the functionality of each different type of antenna
  • The spacious test range measures 20 x 30 x 16 m, and has a main reflector of 7.5 x 6.0 m, a sub-reflector of 5.6 x 5.3 m, and a 5 m in diameter test zone. It is the largest compact test range in Japan.

  • A test frequency range of 1.5 - 100 GHz enables testing in a wide range of frequencies.

  • The test zone can be shifted to the left or right to facilitate test setup.

  • High-performance shielding enables the range to be used for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing.
Acoustic Chamber for Satellite Systems
Acoustic Chamber for Satellite Systems The acoustic chamber is equipped with test equipment that simulates the acoustic environment that satellites experience during the launch phase. It is the largest chamber in Japan.
Vibration Test Equipment
Vibration Test Equipment This system simulates the severe vibration that satellites experience during the launch phase. The vibration load it is capable of applying during testing is immense.
