Image Coding Method
Abstract
In the arithmetic operation coding system for coding image signals at high-compression rates, this system brings about approximately a 5% efficiency improvement compared with conventional systems, because the signals can be coded very efficiently due to simplified region operations. This system is adopted in ITU-TS Recommendation T.81 and T.82, and ISO/IEC standards 10918 and 11544.

- This idea is indispensable to implement the JBIG and JPEG Standards.
