Mitsubishi Electric's first fans comprised a three-phase circuit induction motor and four metal blades. Design prototypes were produced in such colors as blue, chocolate, green, black and white, and ultimately the product was introduced to the market painted in matt and gloss black. Wanting to improve the product even more, the company introduced the Etra wing blade, a wide, oval-shaped blade, in 1936. The new shape offered quieter operation and a constant, pulse-free wind flow. The new blade became the prototype for blades still used in fans produced today.
