MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC Heritage Since 1921 Mitsubishi Electric has made history with innovative products that defined a large part of the 20th Century. Here we present a look back at our manufacturing heritage.

1986

The completed LVP-2000, though, weighed in at 150 kg, a product weight that the engineers had never worked with before. They effectively dealt with the product size by designing a precisely calculated angular steel frame.
The unit debuted in 1986, at a Madonna concert in Japan (the star being one of Mitsubishi Electric's product spokespeople at the time). The development team members swelled with pride as the projector performed perfectly throughout the concert.

It took about a year for development, which was unprecedented for a projector project. We were limited, to some extent, by the number of places that could accommodate our need for a screen large enough to project images of the desired size. We ended up running trial tests outdoors at night. What is more, most of the components for the first LVP-2000 were specially handcrafted by Mitsubishi Electric engineers. Normally, engineers aren't involved in the production process, but the LVP-2000 was a special case. We have fond memories of visiting the production site and physically inspecting the units, one by one. It was a model that required too much out of us, but even so we felt responsible for each unit, until the very end.
