Shattering the world speed record for the fastest elevator.
The Yokohama Landmark Tower Elevator records speeds of 750m/m.
The ultra high-speed elevator
installed in Japan's tallest building,
the Landmark Tower, Japan
The general calculation to determine elevator speeds designed for skyscrapers is equated to 10 times the number of floors. Currently, the highest building in Japan, Yokohama Landmark Tower, has 70 floors, yet the speed of the high-speed elevator installed is 750m/m. If the calculations above were followed, speeds should have been 700m/m, why the discrepancy? It was because the tower was originally designed to have 75 stories, and the elevator speed was calculated to match that design. The development and success of this elevator is considered an evolution of technology mixed with professional expertise.
