TC-1100 Huujin -The World's First Center-fold Vacuum Cleaner

The Time when Vacuum Cleaners and Stereos Made the List of the Three Popular Home Electric Appliances

In 1950s Japan, there were three home appliances that were considered to be "God-like". These were items that virtually every household dreamed of having: a refrigerator, a washing machine and a television. In the 1960s, the growing popularity of vacuum cleaners and stereos brought these items to the forefront, placing them close to the three "God-like appliances". Exactly when the tides were running in favor of the new and upcoming appliances, Mitsubishi Electric introduced the TC-1100 Huujin vacuum cleaner in 1967. And in only six months after its Japanese market release, sales had hit an astonishing record of 100,000 units*1. It is said that the sales total accounted for more than 4% of the market for vacuum cleaners sold in that fiscal year.
