Traditional Japanese materials and craftsman technology: Key to developing the concept
Mr. Yoshino created the core element in the LOSSNAY based on his daughter playing with paper. First, paper is folded into a corrugated wave shape, and then a flat sheet of paper is laid across the top of the peaks to form a line of triangular paper straws. This is the fundamental idea of the LOSSNAY. When these are stacked in perpendicular layers , the two kinds of air intersect and flow together separated by one layer of paper. While the two kinds of air do not mix together, an exchange of their temperature and humidity occurs. Incidentally, the paper used in the experiment was ''washi,'' a type of paper unique to Japan that has excellent ventilation and permeation properties. Together with traditional Japanese craftsman techniques, the triangular paper straw shapes were developed.
