Following is a detailed description of the company's products on display.

(A)Mobile terminals and applications
(1) Trium GSM Mobile Phones
Unveiled at CeBIT99 in March, the Trium new GSM product range consists of five products, Cosmo, Aria, Geo, Galaxy and Astral, developed by a design team in France to promote the expansion of mobile phone use in the European market.

(2) Mobile Applications
Software developed by Mitsubishi Electric Mobile Communication Research and Development Center in France such as "Contact Trium Data" data link software for the Trium mobile phone range and "BONSAI" mobile test software for operators will be displayed. A live demonstration of "WAP (Wireless Application Protocol)" for wireless communication to access the Internet from mobile phones will also be shown.

(3) 3rd Generation Mobile Phones
As an example of Mitsubishi Electric's contribution to global mobile communications, a prototype of a 3rd Generation Mobile Phone will be displayed. Visitors will also be able to see a live demonstration of the company's latest mobile phones with display screens for viewing moving images while talking.

(4) Dual Mode UT for ICO System
The company will display a satellite mobile telephone designed for ICO Global Communications, telephones with global reach that make telephone calls to/from anywhere in the world possible.

(5) Worldwide Activities
The world map panel and various displays in our booth show a summary of Mitsubishi Electric's worldwide mobile phone business activities.

(6) ISDN Video Phone
Expanding the world of communications with sound and images. The company's lineup of video phones for home and office use will be introduced. Using ISDN lines for simultaneous transmission and reception of high-quality voice and moving images, such telephones can be utilized for remote medical diagnosis and treatment, education, business meetings, or simply getting in touch with family or friends.

(7) Video Conference System
A unique compact teleconferencing system developed by the company to save space, simplify setup and enhance mobility will be displayed. The camera is packaged in the system controller, and wiring requirements have been reduced to the absolute minimum. Such systems are saving many companies time and money in their dealings with overseas offices.

(B)Infrastructure for telecom operators
(8) UMTS/W-CDMA Infrastructure
Systems developed by the company for supporting W-CDMA will be displayed. Demonstrations using a base station, video phone and mobile terminal, as well as a personal computer linkup with the WWW of the Internet will be given.

(9) Optical Transmission Terminal Equipment/Optical Amplified Submarine Repeater
Examples of the company's technological advancements for optical transmission terminal equipment, multi-wavelength transmission equipment and submarine optical amplification repeaters, all of which are used in today's latest submarine fiber-optic cable systems, will be introduced. Such equipment is manufactured according to KDD-SCS technical specifications.

(10) Full Service Access Network
An example of the ATM Passive Optical Network (APON), a communication system that utilizes fiber-optic cables to transmit data via ISDN subscriber lines, will be displayed. Also displayed will be ADSL high-speed communications technology for transmission over wire (metal) cable.

(11) Voice on ATM Multiplication Equipment (VAME)
Developed through the integration of the latest ATM voice communications technology, the Voice on ATM Multiplication Equipment(VAME) system enables a maximum gain of 20:1 in voice communications over long-distance lines such as submarine fiber-optic cable and satellite communications systems. Such systems increase efficiency and reduce delays that occur in voice transmission. This is just one way the company is contributing to the standardization of ITU-T (SG15).

(C)Others
(12) Super High Definition Display System
The company will exhibit one of its latest developments in the field of display systems, a full-color display system that can store images onto a computer. The system incorporates 2,048 x 2,048 pixels for ultra-detailed images nearly 4-fold the resolution quality of high-definition television. Such systems are used by many art galleries to create a database of art works. They also play a vital role in reproducing images for data analysis such as medical diagnosis, which can be sent by high-speed commutation lines.

(13) SkyBridge
Mitsubishi Electric is one of the major shareholders in SkyBridge Limited Partnership, an Alcatel company, which is developing a high-speed multimedia satellite communication system for telecom operators and service providers using a constellation of 80 satellites in low earth orbit.
