MITUSBISHI ELECTRIC DENIES REPORTS OF MOTOROLA
HANDSET JOINT VENTURE
TOKYO, April 23, 2001 --On April 20th, some
media reports stated that Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Motorola,
Inc. would form a joint venture in next-generation mobile phones.
Mitsubishi Electric has had talks with Motorola in the past but is
presently not holding any specific negotiations.
In mobile phone operations, with rapid technological
advances and intensifying global competition, Mitsubishi Electric
plans to move forward aggressively with the aim of being in the top
five globally.
