We developed the highly secure encryption algorithm MISTY in 1995. It has proved itself against efficient attacks -- both differential and linear cryptanalysis -- and performs with fast processing speed and light implementation in hardware and software applications.
In use in many data transmission and e-commerce systems, a royalty-free patent license agreement was implemented in 1998 to make available essential patents for the MISTY encryption algorithm. MISTY's design technology has been adopted as the international standard for IMT-2000, the 3G mobile telecommunication system, and under the name KASUMI is implemented in all 3G handsets around the world.
