New types of enterprise
solutions are coming to the procurement, sales, and inventory management of petrol
stations, including preventative maintenance. It's called the “eGasStation,” and
it's a joint project by Mitsubishi Electric, Sun Microsystems, and Cyberonix.
This e-business solution provides a seamless link between diverse electronic devices through Sun's JAVA™ platform middleware that ties together Mitsubishi Electric's communications technology and industrial automation technology such as real-time control components and Cyberonix's Industrial JAVA™ technology. It creates an IT infrastructure consisting of the pump, storage tanks, POS, refrigeration systems, car washes and more, and without replacing existing devices. Sales, inventory, purchasing and facility conditions can be tracked via the Internet, giving the back-office instant access to critical data in real-time, and even receive automatic email alerts.
