How NAYUTA works Operating NAYUTA

NAYUTA is an extremely sophisticated large-scale instrument that assures high-precision performance. As such, it would seem that a full team of trained experts would be required to operate it. Surprisingly, however, it can be operated by a single person.

This advantage is made possible by an integrated control system newly developed for NAYUTA. It's a revolutionary system that further builds upon the breakthrough control technology cultivated by Mitsubishi Electric through its prior experiences with the SUBARU telescope in Hawaii.

Normally at least two people -- an observer and an operator -- would be required to operate such a telescope, but NAYUTA can be controlled by a single person.
